Diagrams.Design ("we", "us") provides a website at diagrams.design and a browser-based tool for creating, animating, saving and exporting diagrams at app.diagrams.design. This policy explains the personal information we collect through the website and app, why we use it, where it goes, and the choices available to you. It also applies when you contact us about the service. For privacy questions or requests, email hello@diagrams.design.
Google sign-in information. When you choose “Sign in with Google,” Google sends us your Google account identifier, email address and email verification status, name (including given and family names when available), and profile photo. We use these details to create and identify your account, display your profile, keep your work associated with your account, and communicate about the service. We do not request access to your Google Drive, Gmail, contacts or calendar to provide the current app. Google handles the sign-in step under its own privacy policy.
Content you create or upload. We store diagrams and their settings, including shapes, text, animation settings and references to images; saved templates and colour palettes; and images or logos you upload to your image library. We use this content to provide editing, storage, template and export features. Exported images, GIFs and videos are generated in your browser for you to download; the app does not need to upload a finished export to our servers to produce it. Your diagrams and uploads are associated with your account. If you choose to make a template available to other users, its content and title may be visible to them.
Subscription and transaction information. If you start a paid plan, we and our payment provider, Stripe, process your plan, trial, subscription and billing status, checkout and customer identifiers, payment outcome and invoice information needed to provide and manage the plan. Stripe collects and processes your payment details on its checkout and billing pages; we do not store your full card number in the app.
Messages and service information. We use your email address to send a welcome email and essential account or billing communications. We may also receive information you send when you contact us. A contact record containing your email and name is created with our email provider, Resend.
Preferences. We store settings you choose in the app, such as appearance preferences, to make the service work as you expect.
Usage and technical information. The app may collect account-linked product events, such as sign-in sessions, page categories, diagram creation, editor actions, template use, uploads, exports, subscription actions and account deletion. These events include limited feature details, timestamps and technical information such as browser, operating system, device type and screen size. A published template's title and identifier may be included to understand template popularity. Our product analytics is configured to exclude the contents and titles of your private diagrams, uploaded image data and filenames, palette colours, payment identifiers, full page URLs and query strings. The analytics provider still receives the network connection's IP address when a request is made. Our server and security systems may also process IP addresses and request information to deliver and protect the service.
Public website analytics. The diagrams.design website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand visits and page use. Google may receive page URLs, referral and campaign information, approximate location inferred from IP address, and browser or device details, and may set or read analytics cookies or similar identifiers. This website measurement is separate from the app's account-linked Mixpanel analytics described above.
We use this information to:
Google sign-in information is used for account and service purposes described here. We do not use your Google account information to access unrelated Google services or to sell advertising.
We share information only as needed to operate the service or as required by law:
We may disclose information if legally required, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer, subject to applicable law. We do not sell your personal information. Service providers may process information in countries outside your own; their locations and privacy protections may differ from those where you live.
The app uses a session cookie to keep you signed in. It also uses browser storage for preferences and local work in progress, such as appearance settings or diagram drafts. If product analytics is enabled, we send account-linked events to Mixpanel; its current app configuration disables analytics persistence, automatic page capture and session replay. The public website uses Google Analytics cookies or similar browser identifiers for visit measurement. Your browser settings can remove or block cookies and local storage, but doing so may sign you out, remove unsaved local work or limit some website functions.
We keep account information and saved content while your account is active, unless a shorter period is needed for a particular record. You can delete individual diagrams, palettes and unused uploaded images in the app. You can permanently delete your account from Account → Delete account after signing in again. The app then cancels any active Stripe subscription and removes your account, saved diagrams (including trashed diagrams), templates, palettes and uploaded images from its active systems. Deletion cannot be undone.
Some records may remain for a period where required for tax, accounting, security, dispute resolution or legal reasons, or in provider systems and backups according to their retention practices. In particular, app account deletion does not currently send a deletion request for historical Mixpanel events or user profiles, Resend contact records, or Stripe's retained payment records. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information in those systems, contact hello@diagrams.design. We will assess and action requests as required by applicable law and provider capabilities. Deleting the app account also does not revoke the Google authorization in your Google account; you can manage connected apps in your Google account settings.
We use access controls, authenticated requests and encrypted connections to protect information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. You can review and manage your saved content in the app, use Stripe's customer portal to manage a subscription, and contact us to ask about access, correction, deletion or privacy concerns. If we send promotional emails, you can opt out using the unsubscribe option in the message or by emailing us; essential account and billing messages may still be sent. You may also withdraw Google sign-in access through your Google account, but you will need Google sign-in to use the current app.
The service is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and address it.
We may update this policy as the app changes. We will post the revised version here with a new “Last updated” date and provide additional notice where required by law. For questions, email hello@diagrams.design.
